Before your session
Drink plenty of water as it helps to hydrate the muscles.
Do your exercise class before, and not after deep tissue work.
Avoid eating just before.
During your session
Speak up, please don’t be afraid to say if the pressure is not right or if you have a question about what I’m doing.
Also if you’d like me to spend more time on, say the neck or shoulders.
Take this time out for yourself, away from life, even if it is just for this one hour.
After your session
Avoid coffee (caffeine after a massage can tense the muscles just worked on).
Again, plenty of water, as well as helping to eliminate toxins, muscles work on electrical impulses and so water is the conductor.
After deep work, icing is recommended to lessen the immediate soreness in a particular area or because the muscles are warmed up… light yoga. This can especially be the case in dry needling work.
Go for a walk.
Walking is a great way to help the body re-educate itself to the changes that have been encouraged upon it through the treatment.
Treat yourself to a warm Epson salt bath.
